Description:

Green Flag is going through an exciting Digital transformation journey. We are developing a suite of web and mobile applications that will provide our customers with the best and most modern experiences. These apps will be built using a combination of latest front-end technologies, microservices architecture, proven integration patterns and AWS Cloud.

We promote a culture of technical diversity, ownership, curiosity, learning, problem-solving, integrity and transparency. We bring together people with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives and encourage them to collaborate, think big, try new things in a blame-free environment and work together in an agile manner, in efforts to continually improve our customer experience.

We welcome dedicated, creative and passionate engineers with various levels of experience who have a willingness to learn to help us in our journey.

Who you’ll be working with:

As part of a transformation programme using the SAFe you will work within a multi-functional agile delivery scrum team, operating in sprints alongside a Product Owner, Scrum Master, UX Designer and a community of engineers.

You will also be a part of a very thriving front-end engineering community, which is accountable to introduce, share, and maintain front-end engineering best practices, innovate and expand our front-end engineering capability across Green Flag.

We’re turning our brand into a digital leader and revolutionising how people use our products and services. Work with us, and you’ll find an in-house role with a start-up feel.

What you’ll be doing:

Building secure, performant, responsive, accessible and cross-browser compliant web components following best coding practices taking a TDD/BDD approach. In this role you will be:

  • Using Angular, RxJs, TypeScript, HTML5 and SCSS for building web components.

  • Using Karma, Jasmine and Cypress for unit & integration testing.

  • Using standard GIT processes for version control & peer reviews.

  • Using NPM & NodeJs for package management & project build scripts.

  • Supporting release activity for your scrum team.

  • Working with your scrum team to complete tasks within mutually agreed timescales.

  • Staying ahead of industry developments and incorporate into Green Flag where applicable.

  • Share new tools, technologies, techniques & best practices with the engineering community.

What we’ll give you:

We have a strong focus on developing you and your skillset and seek to give you the tools to do so. In addition to this we also offer a generous benefits package including family and work life balance focused options such as: fully paid maternity leave and parental leave, flexible working, insurance savings for you and your family as well as a range of other optional benefits.

Join us and you’ll find yourself working within one of the most on the go departments in the business. We love to communicate, build and learn, and we make sure we have a phenomenal time doing it. We’re always encouraging internal development and you’ll have access to loads of learning opportunities, events and conferences to build your industry knowledge.

We’re a diverse, dedicated team of digital professionals re-inventing the digital experience for our customers, our people and our partners. As part of this work, we have an opportunity for someone to come and work alongside our product teams and stakeholders to help craft the way we build and develop our customer products for the future.

Here at Direct Line Group, we recognise the importance of flexibility, not only in our personal lives but also in the way we work. Our mixed model way of working offers a 'best of both worlds' approach combining the best parts of home and office-working, offering flexibility for everyone.

We’ve ditched the daily commute for a virtual first approach. If you do come into the office, there are exciting workspaces and zones you can use, depending on the type of work you are doing.

How much you’ll be in the office depends on your role, and we’ll consider the flexible working options that work best for you. Please get in touch with the team to discuss.
