As a Barclays Financial Accountant, within the Barclaycard Payments Finance team, you will be responsible for supporting the financial control, analysis, and reporting to help drive efficiency and quality of department outputs whilst working with external auditors and internal contributors. Key in this role is ensuring the integrity of the financial position of the client funds accounts and finance outputs are delivered accurately.

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

What will you be doing?

• Overseeing of merchant settlement, promptly resolving settlement issues ensuring appropriate management escalation
• Prompting payment of 3rd parties that can’t be dealt with through automated means and performing maintenance of procedures and policy documents
• Acting as a central role between outsourced finance team and the Dublin operation to ensure the smooth running of financial processes and prompt clearance of any reconciliation issues
• Liaising with Treasury to agree account management & liquidity positions, ensuring funding of key BIP accounts in a cost-efficient manner and strategic planning regarding Treasury matters
• Assisting in the month and year end financial reporting cycle, including preparation of management packs and internal and external audits
• Helping in ad hoc forecasting and analysis, identification, and resolution of accounting/reconciliation issues, looking for ways to constantly improve financial processes
• Undertaking root cause analysis and help to develop a system solution where analytics have revealed a system flaw
• Handling other ad hoc analysis as required, ensuring that all new products, projects, and initiatives are implemented within the directorate ensuring that financial control is maintained

What we’re looking for:

• A professionally qualified accountant- ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA
• Experience with month end close & financial reporting, Group Finance functions
• Understanding of latest developments in finance knowledge, including international accounting standards
• Stakeholder relationship management and the ability to work together with colleagues demonstrating best practices in all aspects of the role

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Numerate – ability to work with spreadsheets and perform financial analysis
• Knowledge of IT systems and databases. SAP an advantage
• Excellent team player- contributing to areas outside the remit and appreciates the bigger programme picture and the ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
• An understanding of the payment, card acceptance and card issuing industry
