Description:

We’re here to beat blood cancer. We’ll only achieve this if we are able to reach more people affected by blood cancer to provide crucial information and support, and to engage more supporters so that we can fund more research that will prevent, cure or treat blood cancer.

Our digital channels are key to how Blood Cancer UK engages supporters and reaches people affected by blood cancer. The Digital Marketing Officer plays an important role in the delivery of our multichannel communication strategies, ensuring we’re attracting new supporters and continually improving how we engage our existing community.

Working as part of our multidisciplinary Digital team, you’ll champion insight into audience behaviours, advising colleagues across the organisation on email good practice.

You’ll be acutely aware that email is only one part of a customer journey and you’ll recognise the importance of connecting this to other channels and stages of the journey both online and offline.

Key Responsibilities:

Email management

  • Deliver email campaigns to Blood Cancer UK’s range of supporters and across the supporter lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, fostering strong stakeholder relationships to create high-performing campaigns.
  • Lead our email production process, supporting other content producers to create engaging, relevant and impactful content, including ongoing testing to optimise results.
  • Maintain an overarching schedule of all planned marketing emails to ensure that our email programme is organised, consistent and delivers the right messages to the right audiences at the right times.
  • Map the supporter email journey from point of acquisition through to retention and reactivation. Build, manage and optimise email journeys using automation and journey-building tools

Content production, testing and evaluation

  • Coordinate production of a monthly e-newsletter, ensuring input from teams across the organisation.
  • Support the delivery of fundraising event email programmes to maximise fundraising remittance and average donation per participant.
  • Write email copy and source appropriate content.
  • Maintain our email templates.
  • Plan data selections, prepare campaign lists and set up data integrations, ensuring customer data is always handled according to data protection good practice.
  • Conduct ongoing testing to optimise results; evaluate performance and ensure insight informs future email decisions.

Support the Digital Marketing Manager with digital advertising activities

  • Assist with the management of our Google Ad Grant, ensuring our ad groups are updated regularly in line with organisational priorities and the available spend is maximised.
  • Support the delivery of paid SEM campaigns (set-up, monitoring, tweaking based on performance, pausing).
  • Support the delivery of paid social media advertising (set-up, monitoring, tweaking based on performance, pausing).

General responsibilities

  • Share learning with colleagues on campaign performance, audience insight and organisational impact.
  • Acquire insight in online marketing trends and contribute to keep strategies and tactical plans up to date.
