About this role
As a Lead Business Architect at Capital One, you will be part of the senior leadership team working on defining and communicating business architecture strategy and roadmap to aid our vision and long term success.
In this role, you will have an opportunity to shape best practices in business architecture, and business design for teams across the entire company.
Drive the simplification of our business processes, operating model and technology, through the appropriate use of PaaS and SaaS.
Engage with Product, Business, Engineering and Operations to shape new initiatives and define new and enhanced products, services, processes, functions and ways of working.
Own the development of our Target Capabilities and Operating model, across business and technology, with the corresponding Roadmap that will get us there.
Coach and support other Architects, Senior Engineers and Product Managers, in making complex and challenging decisions and trade-offs between business and technical complexity.
What you’ll do
Establishing a presence in the key forums which set and direct investment priorities, and ensure that investment programmes and initiatives are delivering in accordance with the strategy and architecture; driving alignment and looking for opportunities to reduce costs or improve outcomes
Developing, communicating and promoting the business architecture, strategy and roadmap across the UK
Defining objectives and key results related to your architecture domains and negotiate with senior stakeholders to agree ownership
Shaping new initiatives, driving the exploitation of architecture domain capabilities across tribes and change programmes
Collaborating with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment on architecture principles and delivery roadmaps
Providing thought leadership for emerging trends in FinTech and SaaS through participation in key industry events and forums and driving the forward thinking of how we can best capitalize and exploit these opportunities to rapidly develop our business and platforms
Leading on the production and maintenance the content of the centrally managed architectural frameworks, including process and organisational architectures, ensuring that this content can be used practically to plan, direct and implement change, to increase efficiency and quality in architecture solution development
Provide vision, leadership and commitment to changing mind-sets and creating culture that supports our group objective
Excellent collaborator within internal architecture teams and across project teams/ external partners/vendors
What we’re looking for
You'll demonstrate a broad knowledge across architecture domains and technology, and our business, to align the large portfolio of change to our architecture direction and identify duplication and options for simplification across the portfolio; finding opportunities to "shift left" to release business value
You'll be able to work in partnership with the business and product to foster value creation by envisioning strategies that drive exploitation of our data assets
You’ll bring a broad knowledge of banking and financial services and modern business architecture and related enabling technologies including cloud, big data, AI & ML, API, digital and mobile
You'll be able to identify real solutions brought to market, demonstrating leadership level input across shaping, design and delivery workstreams
You'll be able to translate business strategy and architecture objectives into delivery work packages which can be used to plan and direct investment
You'll be able to pragmatically balance the demands of delivery projects with the need to maintain the integrity of the target architecture and the trade-offs across business, customer and technology value and complexity
You will have a strong understanding of the Fintech environment and how to engage and partner with Fintechs and make the most out of SaaS capabilities
You’ll have a growth mind-set which drives learning, motivation and achievement
You'll be able to evidence subject matter expertise spanning business products and innovation across banking, with strong knowledge of consumer lending and credit cards
Proven ability to lead, coach and mentor
Where and how you'll work
This is a permanent position and will be based in our London office. We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model - one that creates the opportunity to work in your own way, but also provides great spaces for in-person collaboration.
Our core in-the-office days are Tuesday to Thursday, but they aren't mandatory - you’ll be led by your team, the type of work you do and of course your preferences. Many of our team have flexible working patterns so we’re open to discuss flexible working arrangements with you.
