Flexible Working Approach

Currys announces the launch of its new hybrid working model for all corporate and commercial employees in the UK. As part of its new model together with WeWork, one of the leading global flexible workspace providers, Currys will equip its 1000+ corporate workforce with WeWork All Access passes, enabling them to visit over 50 UK WeWork locations. Additionally, to support regional hubs, Currys will also be refurbishing a number of spaces in its own stores across the UK, giving colleagues even more flexibility about where they work.

Currys took a consultative approach in designing this new policy, with an emphasis on what people want, and what their concerns are with returning to pre-pandemic working. With its workforce steering away from the ‘old normal’ way of working, the company is looking to shift to a more creative, agile workplace strategy that provides greater flexibility.

With WeWork All Access, Currys colleagues will have access to inspiring workspaces designed for heads down work or collaborative meetings. Hybrid working gives individuals and teams at Currys the ability to shape their own work schedules based on their location, workflow and what suits them best on a particular day.

Flexi-Time: This is a working schedule that allows employees to choose when they start and end their workday, usually to accomodate an individuals needs and other commitments outside of work.
Compressed Hours: This is where an employee increases the volume of hours worked each day in order to reduce the number of days worked.
Full-time: A full-time employee works between 35 and 40 hours per week, usually on a permanent contract.
Hybrid Working (Office / Home): This means an employee splits their time between the workplace (usually office based) and remote working (usually at home).
Office Working: This refers to an employee being physically present in the workplace to fulfil their contractual responsibilities.
Career Breaks / Sabbatical: These are an extended periods of agreed absence from work. The term is often used interchangeably with "sabbatical", which is generally taken to mean a shorter period of leave of several weeks or months.
Shared Parental Leave: This allows parents to share a portion of leave and pay with their partners to care for children from birth, usually until their first birthday.
