The Food Standards Agency (FSA) carries out important work across the length and breadth of the country, seeking to ensure that food is safe, what it says it is, and increasingly healthy and sustainable. It’s an invaluable undertaking that supports the public wellbeing and impacts everything we eat, every day.
The work we carry out in order to achieve our goals is extensive and carried out by a relatively small government department that is passionate about doing the best it can for the benefit of everybody. Given the importance of our work, and the demands it places upon us, it’s vital that we make sure we’re doing the best we can.
We are looking for an Internal Audit Manager who can join the FSA’s Audit Assurance team in supporting the organisation and ensuring that we are always working effectively and efficiently to serve the public health and wellbeing.
The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1400 people. Having left the EU, we play a critical role in protecting public health and consumers’ wider interests in food across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our vision is an important one - to drive change, delivering “food you can trust” and working towards a healthier and more sustainable food system.
You’ll use your knowledge and practical experience to plan and manage audit assignments, leading colleagues as you seek to deliver these within the remit of the FSA’s internal audit assurance strategy. From developing the audit to drafting and issuing the audit report, you’ll look to take charge on delivery, working to ensure that we are informed by accurate, timely information.
You will also act to offer important insights that will support risk management within the organisation, participating in the drafting of the annual audit opinion, offering advice to senior management around the effectiveness of the risk management framework, and identifying potential issues within our existing workflows.
As your work will see you collaborate with colleagues across the FSA and wider government departments, as well as external auditors, you will be a confident and effective communicator. Capable of representing our organisation to a wide variety of stakeholders, you’ll help offer clarity to stakeholders around our auditing process.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a tangible impact on the important work carried out across the FSA. If you’re highly organised and can deliver these key audits at pace, using your expertise to help us better our processes and become a more effective and efficient organisation, apply today for the Internal Audit Manager role.
