Description:

Frontiers is an award-winning open science platform and leading open access scholarly publisher.

We are one of the largest and most cited publishers globally. To date, our 200,000 freely available research articles have received more than 1 billion views and downloads and 2 million citations. Our journals span science, health, humanities and social sciences, engineering, and sustainability. And we continue to expand into new academic disciplines so more researchers can publish open access.

Be part of the publishing revolution and help us transform the way research is published, evaluated, and communicated to the world.

The Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated Online Community Manager to lead on the development and management of our community engagement strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who lives and breathes customer-centricity and has a passion for science and innovation. While being responsible for building, growing, nurturing, and managing online communities, the successful candidate will also report on conversation sentiment, brand perception and key customer feedback to inform Frontiers’ future strategies. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal and analytical skills, as well as excellent leadership qualities. Reporting to the Head of Digital Marketing, the Online Community Manager will build and lead a team of community engagement specialists and support Frontiers in achieving our mission of healthy lives on a healthy planet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an online community engagement strategy – leveraging social media and other relevant platforms – and set goals to grow the researcher community, increase engagement and boost brand loyalty
  • Manage daily operations: deploy social listening tools, monitor feeds
  • Interact with the community, and liaise with internal stakeholders where relevant
  • Analyze the sentiment of conversations, brand perception and brand equity to inform future engagement strategies, product innovations and strategic partnerships
  • Identify influencers and brand advocates and engage them to help drive conversations, including around the importance of open access to science
  • Work with relevant teams across the business to ensure a smooth delivery of customer support
  • Define and monitor key metrics to assess the performance and impact of the community engagement strategies
  • Report to stakeholders on community and conversation insights and provide recommendations for brand and digital marketing strategies
  • Support and enable team members from other departments on community engagement best practices
  • Explore existing and emerging social media platforms, analyze trends and leverage opportunities to reach new audiences and re-engage existing ones
  • Build a team of online community specialists, monitor their performance and professional development, set objectives, and conduct annual appraisals

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in communications or digital marketing or any relevant field
  • At least 5 years of experience managing global online communities
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Clear focus on results and analytical skills, capacity to understand trends while looking at data
  • Ability to produce clear and concise data-driven presentations and reports
  • Proven track record of using social listening tools such as Sprinklr, Sprout Social or equivalent
  • Native-level English speaker
  • Desirable: Experience with Salesforce

All applications MUST be submitted in English

Benefits

With more than 50 nationalities represented in our global team, you will work regularly with teammates in other countries, and with our community of researchers, editors, and authors from around the globe.

Our mission to create solutions for healthy lives also extends to the working environment we provide for our employees.

This includes:

100% remote working

Employees now have the flexibility to choose where they want to work, with remote working available on a part- or full-time basis (not applicable to some Workplace/IT jobs due to nature of role requiring presence onsite, in the office).

Learning and development

All employees have access to LinkedIn Learning (and Pluralsight for our technology team), an annual personal learning budget, and dedicated L&D time.

Wellbeing

We offer free online yoga classes, an employee assistance plan, access to the Headspace app, and four wellbeing days on top of your annual leave allowance.

Volunteering opportunities

Employees can dedicate three days each year to volunteer for a personal cause or through our volunteering partner platform, Alaya.
