Frontiers in Science
Launching Frontiers in Science is a business priority of Frontiers in 2022. With Frontiers in Science, we aim to create a multidisciplinary flagship journal that will be among the highly influential scientific journals in the world. It will drive open science and reinforce Frontiers’ position as a trusted science brand for researchers, decision-makers, and the public.
The editorial scope of Frontiers in Science epitomizes Frontiers’ mission, focusing on transformational science key to accelerating solutions for healthy lives on a healthy planet. Frontiers in Science operates in synergy with other strategic Frontiers initiatives (Frontiers Forum, Frontiers for Young Minds, Frontiers Policy Labs), building bridges between world-leading scientists, policy audiences, innovators, the public, and future generations to power science-driven solutions to global challenges.
The role
We are seeking an experienced strategic relationship officer with strong familiarity with how the research and innovation ecosystem operates and an understanding of the influential voices across science, policy and society who are leading on science-driven solutions to global challenges.
The strategic relationship officer’s core role will be to coordinate Frontiers in Science’s strategic relationships in general while supporting the development and delivery of two flagship initiatives: Frontiers in Science and the Frontiers Forum.
You will play a key role in expanding Frontiers’ network of visionary thinkers across science, policy, and society to advance projects to accelerate healthy lives on a healthy planet.
You'll join the Frontiers in Science team reporting to the Head of Program and Strategic Engagement. In addition to your direct team, you will work closely with researchers and other Frontiers teams across different functions and departments.
Responsibilities
Support the Head of Program and Strategic Engagement in identifying, building, and maintaining strategic relationships across science, policy and society.
Lead on the conceptualization of a relationship management system, working collaboratively across internal teams.
Lead the development and delivery of 20 Frontiers in Science symposiums each year, working in close partnership with leading researchers and internal teams.
Support the delivery of the quarterly Frontiers Forum Speaker Series and Frontiers Forum flagship event.
Contribute to team efforts to improve the efficiency and excellence of operations through improvements to key processes and the development of new tools.
Requirements
You have a Bachelor’s Degree in science.
You have significant experience as a science communicator, science journalist, or otherwise communicating complex science-related topics to different audiences across a variety of media and formats.
You have a high degree of intellectual curiosity and up-to-date knowledge of transformational scientific and societal developments and trends.
You are a native-level English speaker with strong writing and exceptionally clear communication skills.
You have strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable liaising with a range of stakeholders, from C-suite executives and Nobel Laureates to rising star researchers from around the world.
You have a solid understanding of project management principles and digital project management tools.
You have outstanding organizational skills and are able to juggle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously.
You are a collaborative team player and comfortable working in a dynamic global, remote environment.
You are tech-savvy; strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office, CRM platforms (Salesforce experience a real plus), digital event management tools, and virtual and hybrid event platforms.
With more than 50 nationalities represented in our global team, you will work regularly with teammates in other countries, and with our community of researchers, editors, and authors from around the globe.
Our mission to create solutions for healthy lives also extends to the working environment we provide for our employees.
This includes:
