Description:

We are on a mission to up-skill humanity through the invention of new digital products. To make this happen, we are searching for exceptional people that don't stop at great, know when to move fast or slow, are relentlessly curious and, ultimately, care for each other.

We are a start-up design and technology incubator, first tackling the cyber security industry. And we come with the might of a wider group of companies, all with the same ethos and history of achievements. If you want to be part of this journey then we'd love to speak with you.

About the role

Part of building amazing products is taking them to market successfully, and that requires bespoke, wonderfully designed, engaging and informative marketing websites for them. To help us do that we're building a small and focused 'Digital Team' that will take ownership of designing, building and continuously iterating on those websites.

A key part of that team will be the Visual/UI Designer. You'll need to have a passion for designing the very best - visually excellent, but also highly functional - product and company marketing sites, everything from brochure sites which show off our companies and the amazing people that work in them, right through to interactive and fun product marketing sites.

To do this you'll be working in the Digital Team, alongside a Full Stack (Jamstack) Developer and under the design stewardship of our Chief Creative Officer, himself an experienced designer.

Typical activities in your week may include:

  • Designing websites for two national cyber security education programmes for teenagers and college students, launching in the US in October, with a potential reach of several hundred thousand young people whose lives we're hoping to change with free education.
  • Creating a engaging website for a national 'Capture the Flag' competition happening in April, which utilises and builds upon a recently created new corporate brand for the overarching organisation.
  • Working alongside the Chief Creative Officer to translate a nascent brand concept for a new skills assessment product we're launching in 2022 into interesting website ideas.
  • Translating website briefs into fully fleshed out wireframes and user flows which address the key outcomes the brief is trying to achieve.
  • Designing high fidelity page/UI designs which are fully custom or build on establish brand guidelines.
  • Building and maintaining component libraries and design systems to ensure the ongoing quality and consistency of all the sites you design and iterate on.
  • Working with the Full Stack Developer to translate designs into fully functioning websites, built on Jamstack.

Overall this is an amazing opportunity to focus entirely on designing the most amazing websites which show off all the hard work put in by our growing group of product teams.

About you

  • Have a solid design education which covered the fundamentals of design.
  • Have 5+ years experience as a visual designer, with a focus on web/UI design, ideally in design/marketing agencies or product companies.
  • Have a great portfolio which demonstrates the ability to create a wide variety of high quality websites and landing pages for companies and products.
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of tools like Figma, Sketch (and/or others), as well as experience using those tools to create and handover designs to developers.
  • Have the ability to quickly sketch and visualise ideas in the form of wireframes or similar to structure and communicate web page concepts.
  • Have a good understanding of how to use and apply brand guidelines to web/UI design.
  • Have a strong understanding of, as well as the ability to create and maintain, component libraries and design systems.
  • Have a passion for designing highly accessible websites that serve as broad an audience as possible.
  • Be a natural problem solver and clear visual communicator, with the ability to take complex information and present it in appealing and understandable ways on web pages.
  • Be organised, have an excellent attention to detail, and be able to work on multiple varied projects at once.
  • Have exceptional communication skills which allow you to discuss your work with a variety of team members, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Be a self starter, with a proactive approach to finding new ways to get the most out of our company and product websites.

We hope that you love your job because of our mission, culture and the work. But, we also put a lot of thought into providing great benefits to make your job that bit sweeter, such as:

  • Great equipment and software. All team members use high spec Mac's and the latest software to make working enjoyable and easy. Plus, we can kit you out with any peripherals you may need.
  • Generous holiday. 28 days plus bank holidays per year, and we close over Christmas.
  • £1,000 annual training bonus. Self-improvement is an important aspect of our values so we are committed to funding your development, every year.
