About the team
Part of a recently formed Strategy Enablement Directorate, the Project Governance Office (PGO) provides governance oversight and coaching support to a broad variety of projects and their managers. The teams within the PGO also support other teams across Shelter to ensure we’re planning and prioritising in line with our strategic plan. Currently , the Office is also leading on an initiative to reform our approach to the mechanics of project and programme management to support the organisation’s cultural aspirations of improving continuous learning and development. Findings from the initial stages of this work have revealed that a realignment of many of our core processes is necessary. That’s where you come in.
About the role
We see this role as being fundamental in realising the vision of a Centre of Excellence focused on enabling the delivery of Shelter’s strategic goals and making it easier for us all to give of our best to achieve our strategy. Supporting the organisation with the development and improvement of basic business processes, including suitable process map documentation, will be a significant feature, initially through leading and managing a series of short improvement projects that will enable you to identify opportunities for innovation and sustainable improvement.
Leading on the review of current working practices. Acting as a business partner to improve business processes and better understand business models/customer needs. Coaching/mentoring colleagues to upskill them in their use of improvement tools, techniques, and approaches. Those are just three aspects of a high profile role that will see you champion a culture of project management best practice and realise opportunities for continuous improvement.
A self-motivated, well-organised and accomplished project manager with proven relevant experience, you’re adept at identifying, developing and delivering improvement projects and their associated deliverables (i.e., Process Documentation/Diagrams). You’re also used to liaising with people in a variety of organisational functions and have the interpersonal skills it takes to build strong relationships with internal customers and external advisers alike. What’s more you’re confident in your ability to provide advice and guidance on processes for improvement feedback and as comfortable identifying stakeholders and project sponsors as you are matrix managing project team members, developing communications or evaluating the success of a project.
