A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change, with individuals, in communities, across society, and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
At Shelter we are united by our purpose to defend the right to a safe home. Our enemy is the social injustice at the core of the escalating housing emergency. We believe that to win that fight, we must be representative of the people we are here to help and those who support our movement for change. In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.
We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
About the team
This key role sits within Planning & Improvement (P&I), a business enablement function which acts as the glue that binds together all income generation appeals, activities and products. P&I exists to enable and accelerate delivery of Income Generation’s strategic plan.
About the role
This is an incredibly exciting time for Shelter as we are starting the next phase of our strategic plan and have ambitious growth targets for the Winter campaign and we need a Senior Fundraising Project Manager to help set us on the right trajectory to achieve these. As well as delivering the operational delivery of the in-year campaign, you will lead on mapping out milestones for our future campaigns to help us move to an 18-month planning cycle.
The campaign consists of a broad programme of public-facing activity, including an advertising campaign, a direct marketing fundraising appeal, events, and corporate partner activation, all of which is amplified by press and social media. You will ensure the project is fully integrated charity wide, harness the talents of the people we have in each team, as well as ensuring coordination and collaboration across workstreams to enable us to identify and maximise opportunities. You will also act as the Planning and Project Management representative for the wider Income Generation risk register and provide project management support to other projects as required.
To succeed, you will have proven experience project managing cross-organisational campaigns or projects, with an understanding of the challenges that come with that. You will also be an excellent communicator with good influencing and negotiation skills who prides themself on a highly collaborative, flexible, diplomatic, and assertive approach. You will also have experience using project management tools such as Gantt charts, and risk registers.
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
