Communications supports and works across all of the lines of business of VICE -- Entertainment (Studios, TV, Digital, Pulse Films) - Virtue/B2B (creative agency and commercial) - Fashion/Beauty (Refinery29 and i-D) and News -- in order to provide strategic advice and counsel to deliver PR strategies and programmes.
The function also works closely with the Executive Leadership Team and regional leaders, delivering corporate communications for VICE Media Group. A fundamental part of this role is navigating and managing crises and issues as they arise working closely with the appropriate internal functions including HR, Legal, Brand and other lines of business (LOBs).
The Director, Corporate Communications EMEA is responsible for overseeing and driving all communications strategies across the region, managing the comms team sitting across Europe and providing senior input into the global comms function.
Develop an ambitious communications strategy for the EMEA region and implement it successfully in market
Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and VP, Corporate Communications US on wider communication strategy
Connect with influential media outlets and journalists, pitch high-level stories for the business and identify opportune moments for PR activity in the press
Take on responsibility for business critical work including financial and C-suite communications.
Compose press releases, statements, background briefings and Q+As for a range of business topics
Identify and secure speakership opportunities for a range of executive, editorial and creative talent across the business
Connect with and counsel senior management across various lines of business on long term planning and crisis situations
Coordinate campaigns between the communications department and other internal teams
Oversee VMG’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work, working closely with the Chief People Officer and internal communications on marquee moments, including the release of VMG’s Diversity & Inclusion and Pay Equity Reports
Lead the EMEA team day to day, providing support, motivation and guidance alongside long term professional development.
Be a strong, self-starting leader with the ability to motivate others
Hold strong relationships across the media spectrum and have a proven track record for results
Have experience in counselling senior business leaders and feel comfortable offering feedback and guidance
Skilled in managing a remote team
Be confident representing yourself and the department in senior business environments
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and a strong ability to work on several projects at once
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong sense of responsibility during a crisis: you react quickly and decisively and communicate clearly with stakeholders
Have a sophisticated understanding of the media landscape in the UK and wider region
Have experience managing budgets
Adept at problem solving and taking an objective approach to ways of working in order to improve.
Have 10+ years relevant experience in a media and communications role, preferably in news, entertainment, corporate or digital.
